Support of our other activities

The Pro Cserehát Association works first of all on the region of the county of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén but we are also active nationwide and internationally.

  • Almost two years ago we launched the work of the Independent Roma News Agency of Cserehát (www.cicsero.net). In the agency, local Roma correspondents make audio-visual news materials and published them in our homepage. Our activity in the news agency is also based on the” participatory action planning”. Our local correspondents select their themes they want to speak about individually. Our media experts give them the necessary help to elaborate the news materials.
     
  • In the nearer future we plan to launch the PRO RATATOUILLE PROJECT. 
    The goal of the project is to create a (bio) agricultural structure in the isolated regions with small-settlements that could be an additional source of income for the participating poor Roma (and non Roma) inhabitants. The produced healthy food will contribute to the more healthy nutrition of the families the selling of the surplus however would serve as an additional income in the beginning, than it would produce hopefully a bigger income to the participants later. As a part of the project we establish a marketing board which helps in the marketing and to sell the products as well, because if one is an expert in the cultivation of tomatoes he is not necessarily be an expert in the planning of marketing strategies as well, and according to our experiments the local people are not good in this field anyway.


We are convinced that such a project shall be established, that it can be done locally by taking the local conditions into account, and which gives opportunity for the independence and development of the region at the same time. It should keep the basic elements of the environmental awareness and the sustainability of development in view.
